America 2016
Wednesday 16th March
We've been busy the last few days getting ready for our next trip. Whilst Sue has been washing, ironing and packing I've been cleaning and polishing Nicolle. She has had a service and MOT, four new tyres and a shiny new decal advertising our website.
In 2012 we spent six months touring USA and Canada. We shipped Nicolle to Halifax and drove to Chicago taking in Niagara Falls and the Amish settlement in Berlin. We then drove Route 66, taking a detour in a huge loop to visit the National Parks, to Los Angeles. We drove the Grand Sur and up the West Coast to Canada where we visited Sue's cousin on Vancouver Island. The Alaska Highway took us to Alaska and the Yukon where we drove the Top of the World Highway and the Dempster Highway. We then drove through the Canadian Rockies, the Great Plains and the Great Lakes to Quebec, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island before returning to Nova Scotia.
This trip our plan is to explore the east coast and the Deep South. We will visit the big cities of the east before heading down to Florida and New Orleans. We will then head north visiting the music cities and the Blue Ridge Mountains eventually ending up in Newfoundland and Labrador.
On Friday we head to Antwerp. We are crossing P&O Dover to Calais. We normally stay overnight on the seafront in Calais but considering present situation will drive on to Arques. We have stayed there many times. The aire de camping is on the edge of a lake and you can use the facilities of the adjacent municipal campsite.
Next Monday we deliver Nicolle to the docks and return home by Eurostar. We then fly Air Canada to Halifax, Nova Scotia on 5th April.
